Earlier this year at CES, they unveiled the Clicks Communicator, an Android smartphone designed with a focus on keyboard functionality. As the launch date approaches, Clicks has announced significant upgrades to the device’s specifications.
Major RAM Upgrade
The standout feature of the Clicks Communicator is its RAM upgrade. Originally slated to come with 8GB, the device will now include a robust 12GB of RAM. This enhancement is particularly noteworthy as it positions the Communicator as a capable multitasker for productivity and communication applications, even if it may not compete with modern gaming smartphones.
Enhanced Battery Performance
When the Communicator was first introduced, it boasted a 4,000mAh battery. However, Clicks has opted to upgrade this to a 4,350mAh battery, which promises an impressive lifespan of over 800 charge cycles. For perspective, this battery is slightly larger than that of the Galaxy S26, illustrating Clicks' commitment to providing users with a reliable power source.
Software Improvements
On the software front, the Communicator will launch with Android 17, a step up from the initially planned Android 16. This update comes with three years of major OS upgrades and five years of security updates. While this is an improvement, it still lacks the extended support offered by competitors like Samsung, which provides up to seven years of updates for its flagship devices.
Pre-Order Details and Pricing
Starting today, those who have reserved their devices can customize their Clicks Communicator, including options for color, keyboard layout, and accessories. The pre-order price is set at $499, but this offer ends on September 30, when the price will increase to $649. Shipping for the Communicator is scheduled to begin in December.
