Huawei has officially announced the Pura X View, a smartphone designed with a distinctive wide screen that sets it apart from traditional candybar models. This device is touted as the first wide-screen candybar smartphone globally.
Innovative Display Features
The Pura X View boasts a 6.39-inch OLED display with an aspect ratio of 16:9.5, which allows for an extended horizontal screen while maintaining the conventional non-foldable smartphone design. Huawei has branded this device as "born for content," aiming to provide users with a more immersive experience when watching videos, reading, gaming, or using productivity applications.
High-Resolution and Brightness
Equipped with a resolution of 2,232 x 1,320 pixels, the OLED screen features an ultra-thin bezel measuring just 1.05 mm on all sides. This design results in an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 96.1%. The peak brightness of the display reaches up to 6,500 nits, and Huawei includes high-frequency PWM dimming technology to enhance eye comfort during use.
Powerful Battery and Sleek Design
Despite housing a robust 7,000 mAh battery, the Pura X View maintains a slim profile, measuring only 6.68 mm in thickness and weighing 201 grams. The back of the device showcases a unique capsule-shaped camera module with three lenses arranged horizontally. However, Huawei has yet to disclose the full specifications of the camera system.
Specifications and Availability
Available in four color options—Leap Shadow Red, Linen Gray, Zero Degree White, and Phantom Night Black—the Pura X View is equipped with 12 GB of RAM and storage options reaching up to 1 TB. The smartphone operates on HarmonyOS 7, which is optimized to leverage the wide screen for a variety of tasks such as video playback, reading, gaming, and productivity.
This wide-screen concept isn't entirely new to Huawei; the company previously introduced the Pura X in 2025, which featured a foldable design with a 6.3-inch main display and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The Pura X View brings this wide-screen approach to a conventional candybar design, allowing users to enjoy a broader view without needing to unfold a screen.
Reservations for the Pura X View opened on August 20, 2026, with in-store experiences and pre-sale events scheduled to commence on August 28, 2026. Unfortunately, Huawei has not yet revealed the pricing for the Pura X View or details about the chipset powering the device.
The introduction of the Pura X View represents an intriguing experiment amidst a smartphone landscape that has been dominated by tall and elongated screens for years. With this new design, Huawei seeks to carve out a different path by offering a wider screen for content consumption. Whether this innovative design will set a new trend in the smartphone industry remains to be seen as we await market responses following the device's launch.
