Vivo has officially launched the X500 series, which includes three models: the standard X500, the X500 Pro, and the flagship X500 Pro Max. Among these, the X500 Pro Max stands out with its advanced capabilities and premium features.
Powerful Processing with MediaTek
The X500 Pro and Pro Max are the first smartphones equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset, while the standard X500 utilizes the Dimensity 9600M, a variant of last year’s Dimensity 9500. This new hardware promises enhanced performance and efficiency across various tasks.
Camera Innovations
One of the main attractions of the X500 series is its impressive camera system. The X500 Pro and Pro Max feature a custom 50MP main camera utilizing Sony’s LYTIA L910 sensor, which offers exceptional image quality with a fixed f/1.57 aperture and 17 EV dynamic range. The Pro Max model boasts advanced stabilization with a “gimbal-grade” 3-degree optical image stabilization (OIS), while the Pro version has a 1.5-degree OIS.
Additionally, the X500 Pro Max includes a powerful 200MP periscope telephoto lens with CIPA 7.0 stabilization, while the X500 Pro has a 64MP telephoto lens with similar stabilization features. Both Pro models support an optional 400mm Zeiss Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra, along with a shared 50MP ultrawide sensor.
Video Recording Capabilities
Not only do these devices excel in still photography, but they also offer impressive video recording features. Both the X500 Pro and Pro Max support 4K video recording at 240fps for cinematic slow-motion effects, and the Pro Max can record in 8K at 30fps. Furthermore, they can capture 10-bit video with 422 encoding and support the ACES color management framework.
Display and Battery Features
The X500 Pro and Pro Max are equipped with stunning LTPO AMOLED displays, featuring a 2K resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The Pro has a 6.36-inch display, while the Max offers a larger 6.85-inch screen, both capable of reaching peak brightness levels of up to 4,500 nits. Meanwhile, the standard X500 has a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a slightly lower peak brightness of 4,000 nits.
In terms of battery life, the X500 Pro Max is powered by an impressive 8,000 mAh battery, the Pro variant houses a 6,510 mAh battery, and the base model features a 7,500 mAh battery. All three models support rapid charging with 90W wired and 40W wireless capabilities, alongside IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance. They operate on OriginOS 7 based on Android 17.
Pricing and Availability
The X500 series comes in various colors, including white, gray, and black for the standard model, starting at CNY 5,499 (approximately $821). The Pro and Pro Max models are available in the same colors plus an additional orange option, with the Pro starting at CNY 6,499 ($970) and the Pro Max at CNY 6,999 ($1,045). Sales in China are set to commence on September 24, with no global launch details announced yet.
