Recent leaks have unveiled details about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Tab S12+ and Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra. While the updates may not be groundbreaking, they indicate a thoughtful evolution from previous models.
Processor Upgrade
Both the Galaxy Tab S12+ and S12 Ultra will be powered by the new MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. This replaces the Dimensity 9400+ used in the S11 Ultra and the Dimensity 9300+ found in the S10+. Notably, there is no 'plus' version of this chipset, as MediaTek has opted not to release a 9500+ variant this year.
Camera Features
The camera setup has seen some changes. The Galaxy Tab S12+ will come with a single 13MP wide camera on the back, unlike its predecessor, the S10+, which had a dual-camera arrangement. In contrast, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra retains both the 12MP wide and 8MP ultra-wide lenses, along with a 12MP front-facing camera for selfies. The Ultra's 14.6-inch display includes a notch for the front camera, while the S12+ maintains thicker bezels on its 12.4-inch screen.
Battery Specifications
When it comes to battery life, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra will maintain its 11,600mAh capacity, coupled with 45W charging support. The Tab S12+, however, is receiving a slight upgrade with a new 10,600mAh battery, which is just a minor enhancement over the 10,090mAh battery from the S10+. Despite the small increase, the S12+ is expected to have improved battery performance, lasting approximately 80:34 hours compared to 73:44 hours for the S10+.
Pricing and Availability
Pricing details have also surfaced, showing that the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra will be around €200 more expensive than its predecessor. The expected launch date for the new tablets is October 7, and while official pricing hasn't been confirmed in all regions, leaks suggest notable price increases in various markets, including the US and India.
While the Galaxy Tab S12 series may not offer revolutionary changes, the thoughtful upgrades position them as solid choices for users seeking reliable performance in a tablet.
