Samsung Galaxy S26 Series Achieves Record Sales in South Korea

The Samsung Galaxy S26 series has made waves in the smartphone market, achieving impressive sales in its home country of South Korea. Within just 118 days of its launch, Samsung sold 3 million units, a remarkable feat considering the previous Galaxy S25 series took six months to reach the same milestone.

Record-Breaking Pre-Orders

The Galaxy S26 series kicked off with a bang, garnering 1.35 million pre-orders in the first week alone. This surpassed the previous record set by the Galaxy S25 series, which attracted 1.3 million pre-orders over a longer period of 11 days. The majority of the demand was for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which accounted for a staggering 70% of pre-orders, indicating its popularity among consumers.

Impact on South Korean Exports

According to South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the surge in smartphone sales contributed significantly to the nation’s exports. In June, exports of wireless communication devices reached $1.55 billion, marking a 51.9% increase compared to June 2025. For the first half of 2026, total exports rose to $9.9 billion, a 31.5% increase year-over-year, with the Galaxy S26 series being a central factor in this growth.

Increased Production Targets

Due to the overwhelming demand for the Galaxy S26 series, Samsung has raised its production target for July from 1 million units to 1.5 million units. This decision reflects the company's confidence in the continued popularity of the S26 lineup. Consumers have also been influenced by promotional campaigns such as the “Samsung Electronics Appreciation Festival,” which provided buyers with a 20% rebate in the form of digital gift certificates.

Future Sales Outlook

Looking ahead, analysts predict that sales of the Galaxy S26 series will remain robust through the third quarter of 2026. However, Samsung is preparing for the launch of the Galaxy Z foldables on July 22, which may affect the production and sales strategies for the S26 models. As pre-reservations for the new foldables have already begun, Samsung will be closely monitoring sales trends and inventory levels.
