Apple has disclosed the names of two American companies that play a critical role in supplying components for the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro. This announcement was made on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, as part of Apple’s American Manufacturing Program (AMP), which aims to bolster advanced component production and technology within the United States.
Key Partnerships for iPhone Manufacturing
According to Sabih Khan, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, the company is excited about expanding collaborations with firms that manufacture advanced materials and components for their latest iPhone lineup. This collaboration emphasizes the importance of American innovation in Apple’s products, from the titanium used in the iPhone Duo to the cutting-edge camera technology in the iPhone 18 Pro.
Perryman Company: Supplier of Titanium
Perryman Company, a family-owned business located in Pennsylvania, specializes in producing custom titanium products. Apple has pledged to invest up to $100 million over three years to partner with Perryman. At their facility in Houston, Pennsylvania, Perryman conducts various processes, including melting, forging, and rolling titanium that will be utilized in the iPhone Duo.
Notably, the titanium supplied by Perryman contains at least 80% recycled material. Apple has chosen Grade 5 titanium for the iPhone Duo body due to its high strength and durability, which supports the device's foldable design. This use of recycled titanium aligns with Apple’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality across its business operations and supply chain by 2030.
Qnity Electronics and Camera Technology
In addition to Perryman, Apple has also enhanced its partnership with Qnity Electronics, based in Delaware. Qnity has been part of the American Manufacturing Program since March 2026 and is responsible for producing advanced film layers for the variable aperture system in the iPhone 18 Pro's 48 MP Fusion Main camera.
The variable aperture technology allows the camera to adjust the lens opening size, controlling the amount of light entering while affecting the depth of field in photos. Apple’s explanation highlights that the system utilizes device intelligence to automatically let in more light in dark conditions and produce sharper details in bright lighting. This camera technology is one of the significant upgrades in the iPhone 18 Pro.
Broadening Supplier Network
Besides Perryman and Qnity, Apple has revealed that nearly 100 components for the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro are manufactured by American companies across more than a dozen states. These components range from wireless chips to silicon that perform various essential functions within the devices. Apple collaborates with other companies such as Broadcom, Corning, Coherent, and TSMC to strengthen component production in the U.S.
For instance, Corning manufactures the Ceramic Shield protective glass in Kentucky, with plans for all iPhone cover glass, including that of the iPhone Duo and Apple Watch, to be produced at this facility by the end of 2026. Furthermore, Coherent supplies laser technology for the Face ID and Dynamic Island features in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Commitment to American Manufacturing
Apple asserts that its manufacturing program is part of a broader commitment to invest $600 billion over four years in the United States, claiming to support over 450,000 jobs domestically. Despite the increasing number of components being manufactured in the U.S., this announcement does not imply that the entire assembly of the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro takes place in America, as Apple continues to rely on a global supply chain for its devices.
