Motorola is gearing up to enter the wide foldable smartphone market, following the footsteps of major competitors like Samsung and Huawei. Recent reports indicate that Motorola's upcoming device will feature a unique design that sets it apart from other foldables.
Motivation Behind the Design
As the foldable smartphone trend continues to gain momentum, Motorola aims to captivate consumers with a fresh approach. In July, Samsung launched its Galaxy Z Fold8, and shortly after, Huawei revealed the Pura X View. With Xiaomi set to unveil the Xiaomi 18 Fold on September 7, Motorola’s entry into this space is highly anticipated.
Design Features of the New Foldable
While the exact name of Motorola's wide foldable remains undisclosed, images of the device's design sketches have surfaced. These sketches highlight two distinct models, both featuring a horizontal camera island on the rear. Each design includes three cutouts, though the arrangement varies; one design features an additional cutout outside the camera island, while the other keeps all cutouts aligned within it.
The purpose of these cutouts remains somewhat ambiguous. It's unclear if all three are intended for cameras or if one might serve as a flash or other sensors. Nonetheless, the design hints at an aesthetically pleasing and functional device.
