Xiaomi Smartphone Sales Drop Significantly Amid Rising Prices

Xiaomi has experienced a notable decline in smartphone sales globally, with a staggering drop of 26.3% in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year. According to the company's financial report, Xiaomi shipped 31.2 million smartphones during this quarter, a significant decrease from approximately 42.4 million units in Q2 2025.

Domestic Market Performance

Not only did global sales decline, but Xiaomi's performance in its home market of China also suffered. The company reported shipping 8.4 million smartphones domestically in Q2 2026, securing a market share of 14.2%. This figure represents a drop from 10.3 million units in Q1 2025 and 11.5 million units in Q2 2025, with market shares of 14.4% and 16.8% respectively during those periods.

Rising Average Selling Prices

Despite the drop in sales, Xiaomi has not seen a corresponding decrease in its average selling prices (ASP). In fact, the ASP for their smartphones reached an all-time high of 1,351 yuan (approximately $190). This increase is attributed to a growing share of premium smartphone sales, which accounted for 32.1% of total sales in mainland China, up 4.5 percentage points from the previous year.

Xiaomi's Global Market Position

Even with the decline in total sales, Xiaomi has managed to maintain its position as the third-largest smartphone manufacturer worldwide. In Q2 2026, the company held an 11.5% share of the global smartphone market, a position it has sustained for 24 consecutive quarters. Regionally, Xiaomi ranks second in Latin America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, while it holds the third position in Europe and Africa and ranks fourth in India.

Financial Results and Future Outlook

Despite the drop in shipments, Xiaomi's smartphone and AIoT segments continue to be the largest contributors to revenue. The company reported 84.0 billion yuan in revenue from these segments in Q2 2026, with a gross margin of 20.0%. Of this total, the smartphone division contributed 42.1 billion yuan, while IoT and lifestyle products accounted for 31.3 billion yuan. Overall, Xiaomi achieved a total revenue of 108.9 billion yuan in this quarter, with a gross margin of 19.8% and an adjusted net profit of 6.2 billion yuan.

In addition to smartphones and AIoT products, Xiaomi is also pursuing revenue from its Smart EV and AI divisions, showcasing its commitment to diversifying its business portfolio.
