Apple recently launched the pre-orders for its much-anticipated iPhone Duo on Friday, October 16. Within minutes, this innovative foldable phone was completely sold out, showcasing the immense interest from consumers.
Customers who managed to place their orders promptly are expected to receive their devices by October 23. However, those who were not as quick will face a longer wait, as delivery times for all configurations of the iPhone Duo have been pushed back to early next year.
Delivery Delays Explained
The new estimated delivery dates for all color and storage options have now been set to January 25, 2027. This delay is attributed to a blend of overwhelming demand and limited supply of the iPhone Duo. Many customers expressing their frustration over the lengthy wait times have taken to social media to voice their concerns.
Production Challenges for Apple
Leading up to the launch, there were reports indicating that Apple might face supply constraints due to production capacity issues. According to a recent report from Nikkei Asia, Apple is currently producing only a few hundred units of the iPhone Duo each day, which is significantly lower than the typical production levels for their other iPhone models.
Scalpers Take Advantage of High Demand
This situation has opened the door for scalpers, with numerous listings for the iPhone Duo appearing on platforms like eBay. Some listings are priced as high as USD 4,999 (approximately IDR 89 million) for the Night Sky color variant with a 2TB storage option. In contrast, Apple’s official price for this model is set at USD 3,199 (around IDR 57 million).
Limited Availability on Launch Day
For die-hard Apple fans eager to get their hands on the iPhone Duo sooner, there is a possibility to purchase it directly from Apple Stores on the launch day, October 23. However, given the rapid depletion of pre-orders, it is likely that stock levels at most Apple Stores will be quite limited. Additionally, the iPhone Duo will also be available at select retail outlets such as Best Buy.
