OnePlus Faces Backlash Over Warranty Voucher Issues

OnePlus is currently facing significant criticism from its customers in Europe over its handling of warranty claims. As the company appears to be reducing its operations in the region, it has redirected users to purchase devices from its parent company, OPPO. While OPPO's offerings may be more appealing, existing OnePlus customers feel neglected as their warranty claims are reportedly being dismissed.

Customer Frustration on Social Media

Many users have taken to platforms like Reddit to express their dissatisfaction. For instance, one user, DrSanchez87, recounted their struggle to obtain a replacement for the OnePlus Buds 2, which malfunctioned while still under warranty. Another user, rubeck1s, sought a replacement for a faulty 120W SuperVOOC fast charger. Instead of addressing these legitimate claims, OnePlus is allegedly providing €100 vouchers as compensation.

Useless Vouchers Cause Outrage

These vouchers, however, appear to be of little value. Reports indicate that OnePlus has limited stock available for many of its products, making it difficult for users to redeem these vouchers. Additionally, customers cannot use these vouchers for items that are on sale, nor can they be combined with other promotional offers. This has left many feeling that the vouchers are essentially worthless.

Limited Usability of Compensation

Further complicating matters, the vouchers can only be used in OnePlus’s online store, and they are not valid for purchases made at physical locations or for future repairs. With a one-month expiration date, customers are left with minimal options to use them effectively. This situation has sparked outrage among affected users, some of whom are considering filing formal complaints with the European Consumer Center (ECC) regarding OnePlus’s practices.

OnePlus’s Shift in Strategy

The issues in Europe are part of a broader trend, as OnePlus appears to be scaling back its presence in several markets. This includes the US and UK, where inventory is reportedly being cleared out. The company seems to be concentrating its efforts on regions where it has a stronger foothold, like India and China, while major product launches are being restricted to these areas. Additionally, there are rumors that OnePlus may phase out OxygenOS, further aligning its devices with OPPO's ecosystem.

This strategy shift, combined with the current warranty issues, has left many existing OnePlus fans feeling abandoned and frustrated. The situation raises questions about the company’s commitment to its customers as it navigates a changing market landscape.
