Apple Launches HomeView Smart Hub with 7-Inch Display

Apple has unveiled the HomeView, a new smart home hub designed to enhance your living space. This device, equipped with the latest version of Siri powered by Apple Intelligence, will be available in both desktop and wall-mounted configurations starting next month.

Design Features of the HomeView

The standard HomeView model showcases a sleek floating display design supported by a rounded aluminum base. This display is tilt-adjustable, allowing users to customize their viewing angle. Customers can choose from four elegant colors: silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray, with matching cables included.

For those preferring a wall-mounted option, this model features just the display unit and offers various mounting options from Schneider Home. However, it will only be available in silver and space gray.

Display and Audio Quality

The HomeView's 7-inch LCD display boasts a resolution of 1088x1088 pixels at 220 pixels per inch (ppi). With a peak brightness of 500 nits and a minimum brightness of 0.3 nits, the display adjusts color temperature automatically through its True Tone feature. Additionally, the touchscreen is coated with a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic layer for easy maintenance.

Audio quality is also a highlight, with both models featuring two full-range drivers embedded in the display. The standard version includes a down-firing woofer and dual force-cancelling passive radiators in the base unit. Users can enjoy Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos, while computational audio technology adapts sound tuning in real time based on the environment. Furthermore, the device is equipped with four far-field microphones that can detect sounds from smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

Advanced Features for Connectivity and Interaction

The HomeView comes with a built-in 12MP f/2.4 ultra-wide camera, featuring the Center Stage capability that automatically crops and tracks the subject during video calls. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11ax with MIMO, Bluetooth 6.0, and Thread networking, ensuring seamless communication with other smart devices.

Powered by the Apple A18 chip and running on custom software, the HomeView utilizes the new Siri to handle user requests. Users can initiate a conversation on the HomeView and switch seamlessly to other compatible Apple devices like iPhones or iPads. This device recognizes up to six household members, providing tailored options and information based on their preferences.

Pricing and Availability

The HomeView is priced at $299 for either the standard or wall-mounted models, with wall mounts available for separate purchase. Pre-orders have commenced in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, the UK, and the U.S., and will begin on October 15 in Singapore. The official launch is set for Friday, November 13. However, it's worth noting that the device will not be available in the EU due to regulatory issues related to Siri AI.

With its innovative features and customizable options, the Apple HomeView aims to become a central part of the smart home experience. As users gear up for its release, many are eager to explore how this new hub can integrate with their existing Apple devices.
