Apple has unveiled an exciting new lineup of smart home devices, the Apple Home Collection, designed in collaboration with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. This collection features a variety of innovative products, including cameras, smart locks, and thermostats, all aimed at enhancing home automation.
Overview of the Apple Home Collection
The Apple Home Collection was announced alongside several other products, including the new HomeView smart display, the Apple TV 4K, and the HomePod mini 2, all integrated with Siri's capabilities. This collection showcases a commitment to creating a fully connected smart home ecosystem.
Smart Cameras and Doorbell Options
Among the notable offerings are four advanced LG cameras and the LG Video Doorbell Wired. Each camera offers impressive 2.5K video recording and features intelligent recognition capabilities for people, pets, and packages. The LG Video Doorbell Wired is particularly noteworthy, as it includes a dual-camera setup with a Full HD bottom camera to monitor packages, along with a built-in spotlight and two-way audio.
The LG Floodlight Cam is equipped with adaptive floodlights that activate upon detecting motion, along with low-light color night vision for enhanced security. Other models, such as the LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In and Indoor Cam Plug-In, provide flexibility in monitoring your home, with features like manual tilting and an expansive field of view.
Advanced Security with Smart Locks
The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock stands out in the collection, utilizing Ultra Wideband technology for seamless unlocking as you approach with your iPhone or Apple Watch. This smart lock also includes options for manual unlocking via a PIN pad or a physical key. Notably, it operates independently of the internet, ensuring functionality even during outages.
Smart Thermostats for Climate Control
For climate control, the collection includes the LG Smart Thermostat and Schneider Home Smart Thermostat. Both devices are designed to adapt to your lifestyle, adjusting heating and cooling based on your presence in the home. They are compatible with a wide range of HVAC systems and feature built-in sensors for accurate temperature and humidity readings across multiple rooms.
Data Security and Availability
Apple emphasizes that data security is a priority, with all camera footage and Home app data encrypted end-to-end. This ensures that sensitive information remains private and secure. The Home Collection is set to hit the market in December, with prices for the devices ranging from $199.95 for the Indoor Cam Plug-In to $399.95 for the Floodlight Cam.
The collection will initially be available in the US, Canada, and the UK, with plans for broader availability in the future. As smart home technology continues to evolve, Apple’s Home Collection aims to provide users with a comprehensive and secure smart home experience.
