Recent leaks have unveiled exciting details about Qualcomm's and MediaTek's upcoming flagship chipsets, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro and Dimensity 9600 Pro. Both chipsets are set to utilize cutting-edge technology, promising significant advancements in mobile performance.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro Specifications
According to leakster Digital Chat Station, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, tentatively referred to as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, will be manufactured using TSMC’s innovative 2nm process technology (N2P). This chipset is expected to break the 5GHz speed barrier with its two Prime cores clocked at an impressive 5.01GHz. The architecture will feature a total of eight cores organized as follows: two at 5.01GHz, three at 4.03GHz, and three at 3.74GHz.
Comparative Performance with Previous Generation
For context, the previous Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 had a different configuration with cores clocked at 4.61GHz and 3.63GHz. This leap in performance indicates Qualcomm's commitment to enhancing mobile processing power significantly.
MediaTek's Dimensity 9600 Pro Features
On the other hand, MediaTek's Dimensity 9600 Pro is also set to be manufactured on the N2P node, utilizing Arm-designed cores. The configuration includes two cores clocked at 4.55GHz, three at 4.35GHz, and three at 3.10GHz. While these specifications are not officially confirmed, the codenames “Canyon” and “Gelas” are expected to refer to the Arm C2-Ultra and C1-Pro cores, respectively.
Graphics Capabilities of New Chipsets
In terms of graphics, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro will be equipped with an Adreno 850 GPU featuring a three-slice architecture and 18MB of graphics memory. Additionally, it will have an 8MB Last Level Cache (LLC) to enhance performance. Meanwhile, the standard non-Pro variant will utilize the Adreno 845 GPU, which has a reduced graphics memory of 12MB and a smaller LLC of 6MB.
MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600 Pro will incorporate the Arm G2-Ultra NX MC12 GPU, showcasing a 16-core design split into two clusters. This setup includes eight traditional GPU cores and eight with NX tensor acceleration, catering to advanced gaming features such as image upscaling and frame generation.
The upcoming release of these chipsets signals a new era for mobile devices, promising faster processing speeds and improved graphics performance.
