WhatsApp is rolling out a highly anticipated feature that enables users to schedule messages for future delivery. This new functionality is currently available to a select group of beta testers on the Google Play Store for Android devices.
Message Scheduling Made Easy
The message scheduling feature allows users to set specific dates and times for their messages, whether they are sent in individual chats or group conversations. A noteworthy aspect of this feature is that scheduled messages will be sent even if the user's device is turned off at the time of delivery.
Supported Formats and Privacy Features
Users can schedule various types of content, including text, links, photos, and videos. However, it's important to note that each scheduled message can only contain one image or video. As with all WhatsApp communications, these scheduled messages are protected by end-to-end encryption, ensuring privacy and security.
How to Schedule a Message
To utilize the new scheduling feature, users can simply press and hold the send button within a chat. This action will prompt an interface where the desired delivery time can be selected. The earliest message can be scheduled for delivery is ten minutes from the current time, with the option to schedule messages up to two weeks in advance.
Managing Scheduled Messages
Once a message is scheduled, it will appear in a dedicated section of the chat information screen. Users have the ability to view, manage, and delete their scheduled messages at any point before they are sent. Notably, recipients will remain unaware that a message was scheduled, or if it was deleted prior to being sent. For group chats, only those who were part of the group at the time the message was scheduled will receive it, meaning new members who join later will not see the scheduled message.
This new feature represents a significant enhancement to the WhatsApp messaging experience and is expected to be rolled out to all users in the near future.
