Xiaomi has recently updated its list of devices that will no longer receive software support, marking them as End-of-Life (EOL). This expansion follows the inclusion of models like the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Poco X5 in July. The latest additions include the Xiaomi 12 Lite and several Redmi devices released between 2022 and 2023.
Details on Xiaomi 12 Lite's Software Support
The Xiaomi 12 Lite was globally launched in 2022, featuring Android 12 with the MIUI 13 interface. Officially released in Indonesia, this device had previously received several software updates, including a transition from MIUI to HyperOS. However, approximately four years post-launch, its official software support period has come to an end.
Other Affected Devices
Another device listed as no longer receiving software updates is the Redmi 12 5G, which debuted with Android 13. Additionally, the Redmi Pad SE, a mid-range tablet, has also seen its software support terminated after three years and two Android updates.
Full List of EOL Devices
According to the latest update on August 18, 2026, six additional devices have reached the end of their software support. It is important to note that being classified as EOL does not render these devices inoperable. Users will still be able to make calls, send messages, access social media, take photos, and run various applications as usual.
Implications of EOL Status
With their EOL status, Xiaomi will no longer guarantee regular software updates for these six devices. This cessation includes new HyperOS interface updates, Android system upgrades, bug fixes, and security patches. Without regular security updates, newly discovered vulnerabilities may remain unaddressed, potentially exposing users to risks, especially those who use their devices for sensitive activities such as mobile banking or storing personal data.
Nevertheless, Xiaomi might still release critical security updates if serious vulnerabilities are found; however, these updates will be exceptions rather than the norm.
