The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have seen a price hike in Indonesia compared to their predecessors. Joy Wahjudi, the CEO of Erajaya Digital, attributed this increase to a shortage in memory supply, which has become a significant factor affecting the pricing of Apple's latest smartphones.
Impact of Memory Supply Shortages
Wahjudi expressed concerns about how the rise in prices might affect consumer interest. With higher costs, customers are now required to spend more to acquire the latest iPhone models. He noted, “It’s understandable to be worried. However, this price increase is not aimed at boosting our margins; it’s a direct result of rising costs due to memory shortages.”
Industry-wide Price Increases
According to the CEO, the limited availability of memory components has led to a spike in production costs across the smartphone industry. This issue is not isolated to Apple, as other phone manufacturers are also facing similar challenges.
- Overall smartphone prices have risen this year.
- Apple is not the only brand impacted by component shortages.
Current Pricing for iPhone 18 Pro Series
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at IDR 27,499,000 for the 256 GB variant, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max is priced from IDR 29,499,000. Despite the increased price tags, demand for the iPhone 18 Pro Series remains strong.
Consumer Demand Remains Resilient
Wahjudi reported that preorders for this year surpassed those of the iPhone 17 Pro Series, indicating that the price hike has not deterred consumers from purchasing these premium devices. However, he did not disclose specific sales figures.
To accommodate buyers, Erajaya continues to offer various purchasing options, including installment plans to ease the financial burden on consumers. “Promotions will always be available. If you visit our stores, there will always be ongoing promotions. Installment plans are also in place to help consumers,” he concluded.
