Apple is gearing up for the launch of its latest iPhone models, with the event scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California. The presentation is expected to begin at 10:00 AM local time, which translates to midnight WIB on Thursday.

Since 2012, Apple has consistently held its iPhone launch events on either Tuesday or Wednesday during the second week of September, with the notable exception of 2020 due to production disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Given this pattern, many anticipate September 9, 2026, as the most likely date for this year's unveiling.

Rumors of an Earlier Event

There were initial rumors suggesting the event could occur on September 8. However, analysts believe this is unlikely, as Apple typically avoids scheduling its launch on the first day of the workweek following the Labor Day holiday in the United States.

Changes to Pre-order Schedule

This year brings an interesting adjustment to the pre-order timeline. Traditionally, pre-orders for new iPhones begin on the Friday following the launch event. However, since September 9, 2026, falls on a Friday, the pre-order date has been moved up to Saturday, September 12, due to the sensitivity surrounding the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in the U.S.

Following the pre-order opening, iOS 27 is expected to officially launch on Monday, September 14, 2026. Media reviews will likely be embargoed until September 16 or 17, leading up to the official sales day set for Friday, September 18, 2026.

What to Expect from the New Models

During the event, Apple is anticipated to unveil two flagship models: the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, along with its first foldable phone, rumored to be called the iPhone Ultra. The iPhone 18 Pro is set to feature several upgrades, including a camera with variable aperture, a faster A20 chip, a new dark cherry color option, a smaller dynamic island size, and an increased battery capacity.

In contrast, the iPhone Ultra is expected to showcase a passport-like foldable design, similar to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8. Reports suggest that the Ultra will have a front display measuring between 5.4 to 5.5 inches and a larger 7.8-inch internal display when unfolded. Its camera system is rumored to consist of two 48-megapixel rear cameras without a telephoto lens, paired with a battery capacity of around 4,883 mAh.

Pricing and Availability Concerns

The iPhone Ultra is projected to retail between $2,300 to $2,500 (approximately Rp 41.4 million to Rp 45 million), positioning it as one of Apple's most expensive models to date. While the launch event is likely to proceed as planned on September 9, there are concerns regarding the availability of the iPhone Ultra, which may not be released alongside the iPhone 18 Pro due to potential production delays. Some reports indicate that the Ultra might only be available for purchase in October 2026, unlike the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, which are expected to be available on September 18.

As for the regular iPhone 18 model, it is anticipated that this version will not make its debut at the September event, with a launch expected in early 2027.

As of now, Apple has not officially confirmed the event date or the details of the products to be unveiled, according to reports from Forbes and Bloomberg.
